Reebok Classic Answer DMX 10

On Friday, May 24th, Reebok Classic will bring back the Answer DMX 10 for the FIRST TIME EVER since its original debut in 1997.

Coming off a stellar rookie season in which he was named Rookie of the Year, Iverson set expectations high for his second season.  Sneakerheads and basketball fans alike had equally high hopes for the shoe that would follow in the footsteps of the Question Mid.  When Iverson stepped onto the court wearing the Answer I for this second season, his game and his shoes lived up to the hype.

The first basketball model to feature Reebok’s DMX 10 moving air technology, the Answer 1 became iconic for its concealed lace system and introduction of the I3 logo. Today, Iverson’s second signature shoe is one of the most highly-requested OG models of all time.

The black/gold Answer DMX 10 will be available at Finish Line, Foot Locker, Champs, City Gear, DTLR and Reebok.com for $150.

"When fans first called me ‘The Answer,’ I knew it was a name that carried the weight of the city's hopes and expectations with it. Every time I laced up my Answer 1s, I was reminded that I had a responsibility to my team, my city, and my fans to live up to that name.” - Allen Iverson

Nike Football England 2013 Home Kit

Written by Ian Bethune on .

Nike Football England 2013 Home Kit

The new England kit was unveiled today, with the first official sighting via a picture posted on Twitter by England midfielder Jack Wilshere of a pupil at his former school wearing the jersey, demonstrating that the kit belongs to the nation, not just the players lucky enough to represent England. Following its reveal via social media, Nike has created a campaign emphasising that while the kit may feature technical innovation and performance benefits, it cannot win games by itself, and it is what the players do in it that counts.

Wilshere arrived to watch a training session at The Priory School in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, before picking out lucky student Jason Kelly to wear and reveal the shirt for the first time .

“This is where my dream of playing for England started and it’s great to be back here to see a new generation playing with the same passion," Wilshere said. "I gave Jason the shirt because his commitment and work-rate really impressed me today, he showed that it’s what you do on the pitch that matters — from your first match as a nine year-old all the way up to the international stage.”

A clean, distinctive design takes the kit back to its roots with its traditional colors of white and dark blue to celebrate the Football Association’s 150th anniversary. The iconic three lions crest was prominently featured in dark blue on the team's first kit, and once again, the crest is the proud focus - now with a gold border, a gold star above it signifying England’s World Cup win, and a gold ribbon graphic below inscribed with "150 years" and the dates 1863 and 2013, marking the Football Association’s anniversary.

The blue on the new kit is the same dark blue colour that featured on England's first kit. Embodying the clean lines and understated style of the best of English fashion, the white shirt features a dark blue classic crew neck collar, while two side vents on the hem of the shirt subtly feature the St George’s cross. The shorts are entirely dark blue and the socks are white with a thin dark blue band at the top.

The kit showcases Nike’s belief in style, craft and pride while aiding the performance of players with key technological features.

Recycled Polyester

  • The kit is made from recycled polyester as part of Nike’s commitment to produce performance apparel with reduced environmental impact. The shirt and shorts of each kit are made from up to thirteen recycled plastic water bottles.
  • In the pioneering process, plastic bottles are chopped into flakes, then melted down to form yarn that is spun into fabric, reducing energy consumption by up to 30 percent compared to manufacturing virgin polyester.
  • Since 2010, Nike has diverted more than 1.1 billion plastic bottles from landfill through the use of recycled polyester.

Fabric and Nike Dri-FIT

  • The kit weighs just 150 grams, 23 percent lighter than previous Nike kits. It also boasts a 20 percent stronger knit structure and significantly improved stretch.
  • The fabric uses Nike Dri-FIT technology to draw sweat away from the body through the fabric where it can evaporate, to keep players cool and dry.
  • Ventilation zones, consisting of tiny laser-cut holes, feature under the arms on both sides, as well as at the shorts waistband, to allow additional comfort and cooling. A mesh panel across the entire back increases air circulation.

Fit and construction

  • Nike embarked on an innovative programme of 3D body scans of some of the world’s leading players to produce a more athletic fit tailored to footballers' physiques.
  • The shirt has been crafted with bonded T-bars to support the seams at key points and inner welded seams with a clean finish to give a more striking appearance, while also increasing comfort and performance.

Nike Football Paris Saint-Germain 2013-14 Home Kit

Newly crowned league champions Paris Saint-Germain today unveil their new home kit on-pitch at their last game of this victorious season.  The new look for the 2013-14 season comes the club embarks on a new chapter after a 19-year quest to reclaim the French league title.

The navy blue home shirt boasts a modern new graphic on the front of the shirt starting with a white block at the top, blue in the center and red at the bottom. The color-blocking evolved from the distinctive vertical and historical stripe design, which has traditionally appeared on the shirt.

This dominant combination of colors reflects the dominance Paris Saint-Germain seek on the football pitch, while each color reflects a different club value: blue for grandeur, red for passion and white to represent respect. The shirt also has a blue ribbed crew neck collar and contrasting red ribbed cuffs on the sleeves.

The new home shorts are blue with a thin red stripe along each side. The socks are blue with a white-and-red band at the top, along with the more traditional red-and-white stripe on the back to give players greater visual acuity on the pitch.

The bold new kit showcases Nike’s inherent belief in style, craft and strong aesthetics, while aiding the performance of players with key technological features.

Recycled Polyester

  • The kit is made from recycled polyester in accord with Nike’s commitment to produce athletic wear with a low environmental impact. The shirt and shorts of each kit are made from up to thirteen recycled plastic water bottles.
  • In the pioneering process plastic bottles are melted down to form yarn that is spun into recycled polyester, reducing energy consumption by up to 30 percent compared to manufacturing virgin polyester.

  • Updated and improved ventilation zones consisting of tiny laser-cut holes on both sides and across the entire back of the shirt, as well as at the shorts' waistband allows more air inside the kit for additional comfort and cooling.

Fit and construction

  • Nike embarked on an innovative program creating 3D body scans of some of the world’s leading footballers to produce a more athletic fit tailored to the contours of their bodies.
  • It has been crafted with bonded T-bars at the junctions of the shirts to support the seams and inner welded seams with a clean finish to give a more striking appearance while also increasing comfort and performance.

Nike Football Galatasaray 2013-14 Home Kit

Nike Football Galatasaray 2013-14 Home Kit

For the last game of one of the most successful seasons in the club’s history, Galatasaray players will take to the pitch wearing a new home Nike kit that merges the club's heritage and state-of-the-art technology.

Nike has created the ultimate half-and-half home kit for Galatasaray. The body and sleeves are in the traditional design of red and yellow halves, but for the first time the cuffs and the crew neck collar are also divided equally in these distinctive Galatasaray colors.

The new Galatasaray kit is inspired by similar designs worn in the 1950s and 1960s by Metin Oktay, one of the club’s greatest players hailed by fans as the “uncrowned king.” The kit also reflects the club’s status as the charismatic avant-gardes of European football, who seek to be both stylish and innovative on and off the pitch.

Inside the neck of the shirt is a woven red label featuring a club symbol representing Galatasaray’s entire sporting club beyond just football. The new home shorts are white with a thin yellow stripe along the side. The socks are red with a thin yellow band at the top and on the back is a yellow block to give the players greater visual acuity on the pitch.

The bold new kit showcases Nike’s inherent belief in style, craft and strong aesthetics, while aiding the performance of players with key technological features.

Following the announcement today that David Beckham will retire from football at the end of this season; adidas have released the following statement:

An adidas spokesperson said: “On behalf of adidas we would like to congratulate David Beckham on what has been a glittering career in football. He has won titles for every team he has played for, playing a key role on every occasion. He was a loved and adored captain of his country, a position he relished and thrived upon. For us at adidas David was one our most celebrated icons and has been one of the faces of this brand since 1996, playing a fundamental role in our work on football, the London Olympic games, training and Style business, to name just a few.

Away from his work with us David has proven himself to be an exemplary human being and a fantastic role model. His humanitarian work with countless charities has been awe-inspiring and over the years we have seen him develop from a sporting icon to a truly inspirational role model. All the while he has conducted himself in a humble, warm, accommodating and moral fashion.

There are a huge variety of ways in which David Beckham can be remembered.  At adidas we think he should be remembered as a truly world class footballer, who took his talent way beyond the game itself to earn a place in sporting history. Everyone at adidas wishes David and his family the very best and, of course, we will continue our close relationship with him in his future pursuits.”

Newcastle United 2013-14 Away Kit

Newcastle United have unveiled their brand new away kit for the 2013/14 Barclays Premier League season.

Fans can order the strip via www.nufcdirect.com or be one of the first to wear it by heading into the official club stores at St. James' Park and the Metrocentre.

The Magpies' 2013/14 PUMA away kit features insignia blue shirt, shorts and socks, with light blue trim to complement both the colouration in the iconic Newcastle United club crest and the logo of new principal sponsor, Wonga.com.

Stuart Middlemiss, Head of Retail at Newcastle United, said: "The new away kit has a very distinctive look and the initial feedback we have had about the design and feel from players has been very positive.

"We are delighted to be offering fans the opportunity to purchase their kit ahead of their summer holidays. I'm sure it will prove to be extremely popular."

Featuring all of the technological excellence expected from a PUMA kit, the innovative new replica strip is inspired by the Sportslifestyle brand's Spirit product line and incorporates Dry Cell technology for improved player performance.

Dry Cell technology enhances body performance by dragging moisture away from the body, improving air-flow and keeping the body at the ultimate performance temperature. Meanwhile, the four-way stretch underarm panel, cuffs, and back mesh offer the same freedom of movement as the match kit.

Roger Harrison, Marketing Director at PUMA UK, said: "Newcastle United have one of the most iconic home shirts in British football. Our challenge was to deliver an away shirt that both enhanced player performance and inspired fans to wear it with pride.

"We're proud to achieve both requirements with the integration of Dry Cell technology and our Spirit graphic."

Darryl Bowman, Marketing Director at Wonga.com, said: "It's great to finally see our brand on a Newcastle United shirt and we're looking forward to our sponsorship officially starting on Monday, 20th May.

"We'll be kicking it off with something special to celebrate the return of St. James' Park and there's lots more planned for Newcastle's huge and loyal fan base over the coming season."

adidas Renew Partnership with Brazilian Giants Flamengo

Written by Ian Bethune on .

adidas have announced a significant milestone on the road to the FIFA World Cup 2014 Brazil by announcing a partnership with Brazilian giants Flamengo.

FlamengoIt has been 20 years since adidas and the club partnered together and the new 10-year deal, beginning in May 2013, represents a long term commitment to Brazilian football. The partnership adds Flamengo to the select group of top tier global clubs sponsored by adidas including AC Milan, FC Bayern Munich, Chelsea & Real Madrid.

Fernando Basualdo, president of adidas Brazil, said: "adidas is the leading brand in the worldwide football market and in Brazil we want to continue to establish a strong and lasting relationship with the fans. Our return to Flamengo is a major milestone in our history and a natural strategy of presence at this important time, as we approach the greatest sporting events in the country,"

This is the first time adidas and Flamengo have joined forces since a hugely successful period experienced by the club, particularly in the 1980s. This period saw the Rio club win some of its most important titles whilst in adidas kit, titles that included the historic victory in the FIFA Club World Cup in 1981.

Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, Flamengo's President, said: "Flamengo welcomes with open arms a partner of great weight in our history that will certainly contribute again to great achievements and to the internationalization of the Flamengo brand. We are very proud to have adidas with us once again."
